What customers say?

“ We had our 180-person wedding catered by Dotty Lou's BBQ a month ago and we cannot recommend them enough. Joe and his team make absolutely incredible food, were incredibly professional and helpful. They went above and beyond to understand our vision for our reception and ensure that our guests had a fabulous meal. So many of our wedding guests have raved to us about how much they loved the food- many of them saying that it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding. Highly, highly recommend Dotty Lou's for catering your next event and of course for dinner any night of the week. ”

“ This was an amazingly good stop for barbecue. The brisket tacos hit the spot and you savor every single bite. The stuffed jalapenos wrapped in bacon couldn't have been better and I could have eaten a half dozen. ”

“ The best BBQ in the capital region. I tried several BBQ places in Albany and Troy but Dotty Lou's takes the cake. I have ordered take out from them several times over the course of 2025 and it was exceptional. Anytime I call them and ask questions or make a minor change to my order they are friendly. Wonderful service. The only minor critique I have is I wish the brisket's and pork belly fat was rendered slightly more. Otherwise it is incredibly delicious. I will continue to order and hope to come in person someday soon to comment on the atmosphere. ”

“ Update: the brisket sandwich is the best sandwich available within 299 miles. Put it up against any sandwich on earth I don’t care. It’ll win. All the flavors blend together in perfection. I love barbecue and I’ve tried every spot in the capital district, and can confidently say after only one visit this restaurant is now in my top 2 of all barbecue places within 100 miles of here. The brisket sandwich was perfect in every way, moist, flavorful, perfect toppings to complement, and filling! I ordered sides but couldn’t finish them, a small treat for later. This spot is a must hit. If you’re a bbq lover this has to be on your list. No BBQ north of the Mohawk River is worth buying. Go here. ”

“ Super good BBQ. Everything was done well. Nothing over or under seasoned. Greens were banging. Loved the gold sauce the best. Cornbread was particularly delicious which is normally just an afterthought at most bbq joints. Great work all around. We will be back. ”

“ Absolutely incredible barbecue. I seriously have no words for how good this was. The brisket was phenomenal, full of flavor, and cooked so that it was falling apart soft. The wings - we picked Alabama White Sauce - were quite good as well, crispy, and the sauce was delicious. I love crinkle fries but can never find ones cooked right- apparently the secret is beef tallow! I could have eaten these myself, but shared with the husband. Finally, the banana pudding. Oh my goodness! As good as ones I have had down South. And do you see the portion size? I cannot recommend this place enough. Do yourself a favor and stop by. ”

“ Good smokey BBQ goodness. A bit hidden away in the Marketplace Plaza, I found this location while searching for a good BBQ joint I could try. Ordered over the phone, as their online service is not active, going with the 3 Meat Combo. Burnt Pork Ends, Texas Style Brisket, and Smoked Wings. And for my sides I ran with the Jalapeño Cheddar Cornbread, and their Five Cheese Mac. Altogether running me just under $40 with tip. Arrived right on time to find my order waiting and ready for me, the service was great, and they even threw in a few sauces for me to try out. A white BBQ sauce, a brown BBQ sauce, and a more traditional red BBQ sauce. Back home I was really digging the burnt ends, so juicy, bursting with rich meaty flavor! The brisket was also quite juicy and so fatty, normally not the biggest fan of a lot of fat on my brisket but turning it into sandwich meat with the included Texas style bread slices worked perfectly. The wings were the opposite though, not a drip of fat to be found, every inch of their skins smoked to perfection, and provided a satisfying texture to contrast the soft mush from the brisket. The mac was good too, nice and cheesy, but I was hoping for more kick to it. Same goes for the cornbread, which despite the presence of jalapeño was not very spicy at all. In fact the bread was pretty hard, very stiff, seemingly due to my trip home taking too long allowing it to cool down. I'd recommend reheating the bread a bit if you too need to drive 30+ minutes. All said, the meal was very filling, had nice sized proportions, and was well worth the try. ”

“ First off, whoever is at the counter is always just a chill and friendly person, so they set good vibes. Then you get and eat some of the best dang food in the area, and area has literally HUNDREDS of food choices. And wary of the queso dip, I love spicy food and after 10 minutes of stuffing my face I realized it had that sneaky back end heat. So delicious though I just plowed on. Will definitely get it again, and again. ”
